Amritsar: Quoting the data presented in the Lok Sabha by Union environment minister Bhupender Yadav, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Tuesday asked Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta and environment minister Manjinder Sirsa “when stubble burning in Punjab has become negligible, then who is responsible for Delhi’s pollution now?”Yadav on Monday informed the Lok Sabha that stubble burning incidents in Punjab had reduced by up to 90%.Speaking with the mediapersons, Dhaliwal claimed that the truth was that the main reason behind Delhi’s rising pollution is its own industrial waste. He said the organisation working on environmental issues – Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) – has clearly stated in its report that the real cause of Delhi’s pollution was its industrial waste and the smoke emitted from fires in the mountains of garbage.Taking a dig at the Delhi govt as well as the Centre, he said for several years, they had been blaming the farmers of Punjab for Delhi’s pollution and defaming them. However, now the truth of both these govts has come out in front of everyone, Dhaliwal said, adding that it appeared to be part of a well-planned conspiracy to defame Punjab.“The data presented yesterday in the Lok Sabha by Union environment minister Bhupender Yadav has made everything clear. The Union minister himself informed the House that stubble burning incidents in Punjab have reduced by up to 90%. This statement proves that the way the BJP and the Delhi govt have been creating noise by holding Punjab solely responsible for Delhi’s pollution was completely false and politically motivated,” the AAP spokesperson told the media persons. He also criticised the central govt over the issue of floods in Punjab, stating that the Centre argued that Punjab faced floods due to unclear drains and illegal mining. “But the statements given in the House by environment minister Bhupender Yadav have exposed this lie as well, as he clearly admitted that the floods in Punjab were caused solely by a natural disaster, not because of mining or anything else.”MSID:: 125719247 413 |
