Thiruvananthapuram: Vizhinjam police questioned five people, including friends of the victim, as part of an expanding probe into the Mukkola murder case, with more witnesses, particularly bar employees and those present before the attack set to be examined in the coming days.According to Vizhinjam SHO Rejiraj, the initial round of questioning focused on those who were present during the events leading up to the murder. Investigators are now identifying and summoning additional witnesses to piece together the sequence of events and clarify the circumstances that led to the fatal assault. S Suman, 38, of Vellayani was beaten to death on the road near a bar in Mukkola. Police said the incident followed an argument involving the first accused, Achu S Babu, 24, and Ananthu S S, 19, natives of Balaramapuram. Both are in judicial remand. Officials said statements from bar employees and others present at the location are crucial to understanding whether the violence was a sudden escalation or rooted in earlier tensions. Police are also verifying accounts from multiple witnesses to ensure consistency. Police registered cases under sections related to murder and attempt to murder with common intention. Further questioning is expected to shed light on the motive and the exact chain of events leading to the killing.
