Udupi: A man, who was driving his car with his wife and son, died after falling unconscious after the vehicle hit a pedestrian in Hiriyadka police station limits on Sunday.The deceased is Manjunath, 82nd Kudi Grama, Udupi. Police said Manjunath was driving his car with his wife, Sunanda, and son, Muralidhar, from Kondadi towards Hiriyadka. When the car reached close to the Kotnakatte bus stop on Hiriyadka-Karkala road, Manjunath accidentally hit a pedestrian, who sustained minor injuries to his head and face. Subsequently, the car driver, Manjunath, lost consciousness at the scene. Meanwhile, Sunanda and his son Muralidhar, with the help of locals, took Manjunath to a hospital in Manipal for treatment. The attending doctors informed that Manjunath had passed away.A case has been registered at the Hiriyadka police station. Hiriyadka police suspect Manjunath died from a heart attack, but are awaiting postmortem report to confirm the actual cause of death.
