Mumbai: A 150 mm diameter water pipeline burst during ongoing piling work at Elphinstone Bridge on Sunday around 6.30 pm, leading to waterlogging in the surrounding area during peak supply hours; water is scheduled to flow daily from 4 pm to 7 pm in the area. The burst led to water disruption, causing inconvenience to residents and commuters. “It all happened very suddenly. The road was flooded within minutes, and it became difficult to even walk through the stretch,” said a local resident.Civic officials said the damage occurred while foundation work was underway, disrupting the scheduled water supply and flooding parts of the locality. BMC’s hydraulic engineer’s department rushed teams to the spot and initiated repair work. Officials assured the pipeline repairs are being carried out on priority and will be completed before the next water supply cycle. No injuries were reported in the incident.
