Nagpur: Akshaya Tritiya is set to trigger a wave of festive buying in Nagpur, with traders expecting strong demand for gold, silver, vehicles, electronics, and ritual items as citizens will mark the auspicious occasion with purchases and new beginnings.Observed as one of the ‘3.5 muhurtas’, the day is considered inherently auspicious, allowing people to make investments and start ventures without consulting the almanac. Traditionally, families buy gold, silver, and puja essentials, believing such purchases bring lasting prosperity and blessings.The occasion is also seen as ideal for starting businesses, buying homes and vehicles, and undertaking charitable acts, which are believed to bring enduring merit.Jewellers in Nagpur remain upbeat despite record prices. Gold was quoted at 1.54 lakh/10gm and silver at 2.60 lakh/kg excluding GST.Rajesh Rokade, president of the All India Gems and Jewellery Domestic Council, said the cultural and emotional significance of the auspicious day continues to drive demand. He said that although gold prices have climbed sharply from around 92,000 last year to over 1.5 lakh this year, buying sentiment remains strong and could exceed last year’s levels.Traders expect the faith-led spending to keep the markets busy, with residents using the auspicious occasion to invest, celebrate, and launch new ventures.
