Kolkata: A truck driver, Raju Kathat (43) from Rajasthan, was allegedly terrorised and robbed by a local family and their associates in Bansdroni on Tuesday, allegedly after a stray dog was run over by his vehicle.According to the complaint, after Kathat had finished loading cargo and was preparing to depart around 11 am, he was intercepted by a local youth who claimed the truck had run over a dog. The youth was joined by elder family members and neighbours who ” threatened to disfigure me with acid if I didn’t pay up immediately,” Kathat said. He was coerced into a “settlement” of Rs 25,000 for the alleged death of the animal. tnn
