Hyderabad: BJP floor leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy on Wednesday alleged that chief minister A Revanth Reddy is opposing delimitation to get into the good books of the Gandhis and secure the post of national Congress president. He claimed that the delimitation exercise would increase the representation of southern states.“The Congress is acting with a colonial mindset, trying to spark North vs South conflict. They talk about the Union of states only to promote separatism. Rahul Gandhi is acting like a modern-day Lord Curzon, trying to divide and rule,” he said. The BJP leader said that the proposal of a ‘hybrid model’ based on GSDP has no constitutional basis. “Linking democratic representation to economic output is illogical, unscientific and ultra vires,” said Reddy, adding that any attempt to link representation to economic performance risks transforming democracy into a plutocracy, where wealth determines political influence.“Three Goas are equal to one Malkajgiri. Delimitation is exactly what addresses this inequality, ensuring that a citizen in Adilabad and a citizen in Hyderabad have equal representation,” he added. The BJP leader said that Congress stands for “Creating Obstacles for Nation’s Growth, Representation and Empowerment of South States”, and added that Revanth should look at his own state before writing letters to other CMs.
