Kota: Jhalawar police Wednesday arrested three people for running a cyber fraud racket using mule bank accounts in the Bhawanimandi police station area. Three other accused were arrested from the same area in a similar case on April 10. The accused were identified as Ajay Verma (28), Arvind Meena (25) and Rajkumar Meghwal (25), all residents of Jhalawar district.According to police, the accused purchased bank accounts by paying hefty sums and used them as “mule accounts” to siphon off money obtained through cyber fraud.Investigations have revealed that the accounts were used to route funds linked to online fraud cases reported from across the country, with transactions of nearly Rs 10 lakh traced so far. SP Amit Kumar said that Bhawanimandi police station assistant sub-inspector Surendra Singh had received specific intelligence inputs regarding suspicious transactions linked to a bank account in the Yes Bank branch at Bhawanimandi. Upon verification, an account registered under the name of Ajay Verma was found to be linked to cyber fraud, following which a case was registered against him under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the IT Act. During interrogation, Verma named other two accused, leading to their arrest. Police have seized two ATM cards, five bank passbooks, a chequebook, two laptops and Rs 47,500.
