Patna: Police on Wednesday said the death of a 17-year-old Class 12 student, who fell from the eighth floor of a building near AIIMS-Patna Golambar on February 12, was a case of suicide, ruling out any foul play after a two-month-long investigation. Her family, however, continued to dispute the findings and demanded a deeper probe into the role of the boys seen in the CCTV footage.City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh said the girl, a resident of Phulwari Sharif, had gone to attend coaching classes when the incident occurred. “Her body was found on the road near the coaching institute, with her slippers lying close by. Following allegations by the family that she was pushed from the building and subjected to wrongdoing, a detailed probe was conducted,” he said.Police scanned CCTV footage from the coaching centre, which showed the girl climbing the stairs to the terrace, followed by one boy, while another boy was seen going upstairs shortly after. The footage captured the girl falling from the terrace. Both boys were later seen coming back down, briefly looking at the body before fleeing.Three persons were detained for questioning and polygraph tests were conducted. Police also carried out a detailed site inspection and post-mortem. “No evidence of murder was found in the post-mortem report or during the investigation. Based on technical evidence, witness statements and forensic findings, the case has been concluded as a suicide,” the SP said. The family, however, continued to dispute the findings and demanded a deeper probe into the role of the boys seen in the CCTV footage. Police maintained that no incriminating evidence emerged against those questioned.
