Hyderabad: A man allegedly posing as a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer was caught inside the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Monday night while taking photographs in uniform, raising serious security concerns. The incident surfaced when quick reaction team (QRT) personnel noticed his suspicious movement near a washroom at the airport’s C-level. The accused, identified as Bala Krishna Saman from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, had entered the premises dressed in a CISF uniform and was seen clicking pictures. Security staff intercepted him and questioned him about his identity, unit and credentials. He failed to produce any valid ID or give convincing answers, prompting officials to alert the Security Operations Control Centre and senior authorities. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had been impersonating a CISF officer to mislead women. During questioning, he admitted he wore the uniform and took photographs to convince a woman he intended to marry that he held a govt job. He had sent the images via WhatsApp to gain her trust, as her family insisted on a govt-employed groom. Police said Bala Krishna is married and has a daughter. He is also suspected of using similar tactics on social media and matrimonial platforms, posing as a central govt officer to lure women. Officials termed the incident a serious breach, noting that impersonation of armed personnel inside a high security zone like an international airport poses significant risks. Investigators are examining whether the act involved any reconnaissance or had deeper security implications. A case has been registered under sections 319(2), 318(4), 204 and 205 of BNS, covering impersonation of a public servant, cheating and related offences. The probe has been handed over to a designated officer, while police are verifying the accused’s background for any prior record or wider links.
