Gurgaon: Greenbelts along sectors 30-31 and 40-41 remain neglected, with residents raising concerns over poor maintenance, encroachments and garbage despite repeated complaints to GMDA.The greenbelts, meant to act as a buffer zone and green lungs for the areas, are marked by broken boundary walls, missing fencing and horticultural waste. The absence of barriers has made the space vulnerable to misuse, with vendors encroaching and parts being used for parking. With no regular upkeep, residents said the condition has worsened over the years. “Piles of leaves, branches and other horticultural waste remain uncleared, which has encouraged people to keep dumping garbage here,” they said.RWA president of South City Raj Chopra said, “We have been raising the issue with GMDA repeatedly, but nothing has been done. Along with the poor upkeep of greenbelt on this road, we also flag the condition of the stretch from Signature Tower to Millennium City Centre. Construction and demolition waste, along with garbage, is dumped there too.”Retired chief engineer of GMDA Pradeep Kumar said the situation has not improved for the past six years. “I have not seen any proper maintenance of the greenbelts along the road dividing sectors 30-31 and 40-41 for the last six years. Garbage is scattered across the area, and the grills and pillars meant to protect the greenbelt are either missing or in poor condition. This has left the space unguarded, allowing easy access and misuse. Despite roads being rebuilt several times, no attention was given to restoring or maintaining the greenbelt,” he said.Meanwhile, a GMDA official said the work was allotted to an agency and will begin soon. “The greenbelt will be cleaned, developed and maintained, and fencing will be installed to prevent dumping and encroachment. The aim is to complete the work before the monsoon,” he said.
