Patna: The Patna Metro is poised to expand its services with the elevated Malahi Pakri station nearing completion. Part of the project’s priority corridor, the station is expected to become operational soon after final safety clearance from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) and a no-objection certificate from the fire department.Once operational, the Malahi Pakri station is expected to play a key role in improving connectivity between the eastern and southern parts of the city, significantly reducing travel time for commuters. Officials said the station has been equipped with modern passenger amenities, including lifts, escalators and stairways, besides a foot overbridge connecting its two structures on either side of the road.Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRCL) spokesperson Archana Khushi said most of the finishing work has now been completed. “The finishing work was going on for the past few days, which has now been almost completed. Equipped with modern facilities and an attractive design, the station will soon offer residents a better and faster metro ride experience,” she said.Built along a 90-feet-wide road, the Malahi Pakri Metro station comprises ground-plus-two-floor structures on both sides. Notably, it will be the only station on the priority corridor with a ground-plus-two-floor configuration. Commuters will be able to board and alight trains from the topmost level. The two station buildings have been connected through a foot overbridge to allow seamless movement across both sides of the road.Constructed under the Blue Line of the Patna Metro, Malahi Pakri station is also being linked with Bhootnath station, a move expected to further strengthen metro connectivity in the eastern parts of the city. Recently, a successful trial run was conducted between Bhootnath and Malahi Pakri stations, during which the metro train’s speed, braking system, signalling, overhead equipment and other safety parameters were thoroughly tested.According to PMRCL sources, entry and exit facilities have been provided on both sides of the 90-feet road. Commuters will also be able to access the station from Hanuman Nagar Road and Patliputra Stadium Road. Parking arrangements are being developed in the building located on the Patliputra Stadium side. From there, commuters can cross over to the opposite building using the foot overbridge and reach the platform level.Passengers will enter the station from the ground floor on both sides, proceed to the first floor for ticketing via stairs, ramps, escalators or lifts, and then move up to the second floor, where the platform has been constructed. To enhance its visual appeal, the interiors of the Malahi Pakri station have been adorned with vibrant paintings and artwork. The walls feature colourful depictions of flowers, leaves and natural scenery, with artists creating intricate designs to give the station a distinct identity. “As soon as people enter the station, they will experience colourful and creative artworks,” the PMRCL spokesperson added.
