Hyderabad: An ambulance carrying a patient and her husband from Hyderabad to Adilabad met with an accident after a private travels bus rammed into it from behind at Bhiknoor in Kamareddy district, killing the ambulance driver and the patient and leaving her husband injured.The accident occurred around 12.45 am on National Highway-44. The deceased were identified as Shaik Sardar, 33, ambulance driver, and Saleha Banu, 60, who was being transported home. Saleha’s husband, Saifullah Khan, 70, sustained multiple injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at the Kamareddy area hospital.Police said the ambulance, bearing a Chhattisgarh registration number, was operated by Sardar, a resident of Rakasipet village in Bodhan mandal. After crossing the Rameshwarpally bridge, the bus travelling from Hyderabad to Varanasi crashed into the ambulance from behind. The impact of the high-speed collision killed Sardar and Saleha on the spot. There were around 20 pilgrims on board the bus, and none of them was injured in the accident. Based on a complaint filed by the ambulance driver’s wife, Naseem Sultana, police registered a case against the bus driver, Prabhu, under sections 106(1) (causing death by negligence) and 125(a) (causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the BNS. The accused bus driver has been arrested.
