DoneHyderabad: BJP MP DK Aruna on Saturday urged all political parties to support the amendment bill to operationalise the Women’s Reservation Act, which is set to be introduced during the special session of Parliament from April 16 to 18.Addressing the media at the BJP state headquarters, Aruna said that if the bill is approved, Telangana would have nine women MPs in Parliament. At present, the state has only two women MPs. She added that following the proposed increase in assembly seats in Telangana after delimitation to about 180 seats, nearly 60 women would get an opportunity to represent various constituencies in the state assembly.“Earlier, several parties, including the Congress, tried to get approval for the women’s reservation bill. Now, the BJP govt led by Narendra Modi introduced the Nari Shakti Vandanam Bill in Parliament,” Aruna said. She added that women should take a more active role in politics and that reservations would provide a great opportunity for them.
