Patna: Patna cyber police have arrested a 34-year-old man from Paliganj in Patna district for allegedly storing, uploading and sharing child pornographic content across multiple digital platforms.Patna Cyber DSP Nitish Chandra Dhariya said on Saturday that technical surveillance indicated the involvement of the accused, Nitish Kishor Kaushal, in handling illegal material online. Acting on the lead, a special police team raided the location, detained Kaushal and conducted an on-the-spot examination of his cellphone. “Several videos containing child-related explicit material were recovered from the device,” the DSP said.Following a detailed technical analysis, the accused was formally arrested and produced before a court on Saturday. Investigators also traced multiple Telegram channels and groups from the seized phone, which were allegedly used to share, upload, download and store the objectionable content.While child sexual abuse material was found on the device, police said verification is underway to ascertain whether any minors were directly involved. “A technical report generated from the handset, dating back to 2023, has been obtained and is being examined. It contains detailed information about the usage of the phone and the nature of content accessed and shared,” Dhariya added.The DSP said Kaushal, who was engaged in private local employment, has been taken into judicial custody. Police underlined that under Indian law, storage, transmission or creation of child pornography is a serious cognizable offence and attracts stringent punishment.Dhariya also appealed to the public to act responsibly. “If anyone receives such content, they must immediately delete it and inform the local police. Even forwarding or storing such material can invite strict legal action,” he said.
