Ahmedabad: The State Examination Board will conduct the Teacher Aptitude Test for Higher Secondary (TAT-HS) on Sunday. A total of 1.65 lakh candidates have registered across Gujarat. The exam was initially scheduled for March 29 but was postponed due to a clash with the GujCET exam.The TAT-HS is being conducted in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the Mission Schools of Excellence initiative, aiming to ensure quality education by assessing candidates’ teaching aptitude through a two-tier exam system.The preliminary exam will be an MCQ-based test of 200 marks, divided into two sections. The first section of 100 marks will be common for all candidates, while the second section of 100 marks will be subject-specific. The duration of the exam will be 180 minutes, and a negative marking of 0.25 marks will be applied for each incorrect answer.The exam will be held at 862 centres across six districts, including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Rajkot, Surat and Vadodara. It will cover 41 subjects across Gujarati, English and Hindi mediums, reflecting the diverse academic requirements of higher secondary education in the state.The registration process for aspiring higher secondary teachers was carried out online between Feb 10 and Feb 19, with an extension provided later. By the end of the registration period, a total of 165,024 candidates applied for the exam.
