The union Home minister was speaking at campaign rallies at Onda in Bankura district and Chhatna as West Bengal goes to two-phase assembly elections in West Bengal on April 19 and 23.
“A Son of the soil, who is a Bengali speaking person from West Bengal, will be the Chief Minister of state,” Shah said.

Wooing the women’s votebank, Shah said that BJP’s main focus to come to power and implement Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
“The recommendation for a Uniform Civil Code is not of the BJP. It was due to appeasement politics that the UCC was not implemented for so long. In whichever states we have formed governments, we have implemented them; and we will do it in Bengal too,” Shah had said after manifesto release yesterday.Shah had said yesterday that the ” Constitution is based on the principle that every citizen, regardless of religion, should be treated equally. Is having the same law for every citizen appeasement? Or is it appeasement when one citizen is allowed four marriages and another only one? The UCC ends appeasement,” Shah had said.
Talking about women’s safety and security, Shah said, “Love jihad and land jihad” will be stopped in the state and in the next five years, all recruitment of vacant government posts will be done.
