Patiala: As many as 725 students received degrees and medals at the 41st convocation of Punjabi University on Thursday.
The awards included 457 PhD degrees, 179 postgraduate and professional course degrees, and 86 degrees for undergraduate toppers. The university also conferred three Chancellor Medals and 18 donor-sponsored medals.
Punjab Governor and university Chancellor Gulab Chand Kataria, who attended the ceremony, said knowledge must serve society.
Among the PhD awardees, the highest numbers were from Social Sciences (90) and Business Studies (85).
The university also introduced Punjabi heritage-inspired convocation attire, which students were allowed to retain as a keepsake.
