Chennai: A 35-year-old software engineer was arrested for sexually harassing women on city streets in MGR Nagar on Thursday. The accused, Dinesh Kumar, a resident of Kolathur, was working in a software company in the city. Police said he targeted lone women and students walking in sparsely crowded areas. He made obscene gestures and molested them before fleeing on a motorcycle.The case came to light when construction workers at Nesapakkam near KK Nagar alerted MGR Nagar police about one such incident. Police examined CCTV footage and tracked the motorcycle registration number to identify the accused.During interrogation, police found that Dinesh Kumar had been committing similar offences over the past few months. A case was registered under provisions related to offences against women. The accused was produced before a magistrate court and remanded in judicial custody. TNN
