Reclaiming Dalit History Through ArtThe air in Ahmedabad is thick with more than just evening heat; it’s thick with stories. To mark Dalit History Month, Chai Charcha Chapter and Scrapyard – The Theatre are moving beyond archives to host an evening where identity is projected and debated. The event, Dalit History Month: Cinema, Comics & Conversations, spotlights important short films created by students from Ahmedabad, offering local perspectives on identity, memory and lived experience. A curated zine corner will showcase student-led visual and written work, extending the conversation beyond the screen. The evening concludes with an open discussion inviting audiences to engage with the themes explored and exchange ideas in community. When: April 12, 7pm onwards Where: Scrapyard – The Theatre, 23 Gujarat Society, Paldi Entry: Open to all ——Contrasting Worlds Of Abstract ArtMOCA Gandhinagar unveils two concurrent exhibitions by Ajay Choudhary, mapping the vast, interconnected territories of abstract thought. ‘Silent Surfaces’ is an exercise in restraint, where textures on handmade paper invite a slower, more contemplative inward look through subtle tonal shifts. Its counterpart, ‘Rhythms of Abstraction’, pulses with a different energy, defined by layered surfaces and vigorous mark-making that capture the tension of movement. Together, these shows create a compelling dialogue between the artist’s quiet reflections and his most expressive intensities, tracing the full breadth of his visual language. When: Till May 20, 12 noon to 6pm (by appointment)Where: MOCA Gandhinagar, Veer Resi, Near Taj GandhinagarEntry: Open to all—-—-—Melodic Grace In Every StrokeIn her solo exhibition ‘Aabrang’, watercolourist Prabhawana Shailesh navigates the delicate boundary between fluid pigment and raw emotion.
