Bengaluru: A complaint was registered over hate posts on X targeting IPL fan groups. The post and comment were shared by Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers supporters.According to the complaint filed by police sub-inspector Vinod R Naik, attached to Central Cyber Crime police station, he came across controversial posts on X while monitoring online activity on April 4.The post by @ltz_Bl3ze supporting CSK featured a jersey with the words “2025 11 murders” and urged CSK fans to take the jersey to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 5. A supporter of RCB replied from @bholination, “I can promise he won’t be returning home on his feet for this inhuman act.” According to police, the posts were intended to incite hatred and disrupt public harmony.A senior officer said posting such content on social media accounts is a punishable offence and warned of strict action. A case was registered under the Information Technology Act and BNS Section 353 (statements conducing to public mischief). Efforts are on to trace the X handlers for further action.
