Rajkot: A 47-year-old man, Sanjay Bhojavia, allegedly murdered his 48-year-old wife, Shaku Bhojavia, after a domestic quarrel, near the Bhimnath Mahadev temple on the outskirts of Lajai village in Tankara taluka of Morbi district on Wednesday night.Tankara police registered an case against Sanjay Bhojavia under Sections 103 (1), 238, 351 (2) and other sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.Sanjay Bhojavia was arrested by Tankara police soon after the offence was registered. Investigating officer J D Jhala told TOI that Bhojavia’s first wife had left him and their four children eight years ago and married another man. He subsequently married Shaku.Around 9pm on Wednesday, the couple had a quarrel and both later went to sleep in their room, while the children slept separately. During the night, another argument broke out, during which Bhojavia allegedly struck his wife on the head with a blunt object, causing severe bleeding. He then went to sleep in the same room.When he woke up in the morning and found Shaku dead, he woke his son Sahil and allegedly told him, “I have killed your mother and I am going to throw her away.” In his statement to police, Sahil said he was terrified and refused to accompany his father.“My father threatened me and said that if you do not come with me, I will kill you too,” Sahil told police, adding that he was frightened by the threat.Sahil said his father then placed his mother’s body in a rickshaw and dumped it among the thorns of an acacia tree near the dam opposite the Bhimnath temple. Sahil’s sister, Lakshmi, later called 112 using his mobile phone and informed police about the incident. Sahil told investigators that on the night of the incident, his father had told his mother, “Because of you, my first wife left me and my children.”Police said preliminary inquiries revealed that Sanjay Bhojavia worked as a labourer. Further investigations are underway, including the recovery of the blunt object allegedly used in the murder.
