Bengaluru: A local court in the city Wednesday rejected bail to Dr Mahendra Reddy GS, arrested on charges of murdering his dermatologist wife, Kruthika Reddy, through an overdose of anaesthesia in April 2025.A general physician with Institute of Gastroenterology and Organ Transplant in Victoria Hospital, Reddy was arrested by Marathahalli police in Oct 2025 after Kruthika’s post-mortem report confirmed the presence of anaesthesia in a huge quantity in her body. Since his arrest, Reddy has been in judicial custody at Bengaluru central prison.Also, police had filed a preliminary charge-sheet explaining how Reddy, unhappy with his wife Kruthika over her alleged ill health, hatched the murder and intentionally administered an overdose of Propofol anaesthesia to her, leading to her death.While objecting to Reddy’s bail plea, Marathahalli police told court that they had recovered lakhs of digital files, along with PhonePe chats, deleted data, intimate photographs and other key material. One of the retrieved messages from Reddy’s mobile phone read: “I don’t have proof, but I have killed Kruthika. I will go behind bars.”Another message, sent to a female medical professional, read: “Do not text or call me anywhere after you see this message. I will call you once everything is settled. Mostly police will call you to ask what’s our relation. Tell them we are friends…”Mahendra and Kruthika got married in May 2024. Mahendra reportedly was close to four-five other women. He also expressed to a few of them separately that he wanted to marry them. Another message sent to around five women from Reddy’s phone that was deleted read: “I killed my wife for you.”
