Hyderabad: In a move to boost livelihoods and improve upkeep in 2BHK housing colonies, the state will begin auctioning over 1,400 shops across core urban region economy (CURE) areas from Thursday. District collectors of Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal Malkajgiri and Sangareddy have issued notifications for the sale of shops spread across 36 colonies. The first phase will see 273 shops in eight colonies of Rangareddy district go under the hammer on April 9 and 10. The shops, ranging from 60 to 400 sq ft, are located within residential clusters housing hundreds of families and are aimed at supporting local commercial activity. According to VP Gautham, managing director of Telangana Housing Corporation Ltd, the shops are being sold on an ‘as-is, where-is’ basis, with upset prices kept nominal and below prevailing market rates. Interested bidders can inspect the premises and register at the respective RDO offices by 11 am on auction days after submitting the required earnest money deposit.Officials said the revenue generated will be used exclusively for the maintenance of the respective colonies. Welfare associations of residents will be formed under the Cooperative Societies Act to manage these funds. “The govt’s objective is to ensure that the shops within these colonies not only provide employment opportunities to various individuals but also make essential daily commodities readily available to the local residents,” an official said. The open auctions are scheduled to be conducted as follows:On April 9 and 10 for 273 shops across 8 colonies in Ranga Reddy district.On April 15 and 16 for 77 shops across 10 colonies within the Hyderabad district limits.On April 15 and 17 for 892 shops across 12 colonies in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.From April 15 to 18, as well as on April 21, for 372 shops across 6 colonies within the Sangareddy district limits.
