Mysuru: Prithvi, a 13-year-old tiger at Mysuru zoo, is currently in critical condition following a sudden deterioration in his health. The zoo authorities said the tiger has been suffering from congenital paresis, a neurological disorder that affects muscle strength and movement. His condition worsened significantly on the morning of April 6, prompting immediate medical attention from the zoo’s veterinary team.For intensive care and close monitoring, Prithvi has been shifted to the Chamundi Wildlife Conservation, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, where he is currently undergoing treatment. The specialised facility provides a controlled environment for wildlife requiring advanced medical support and rehabilitation.According to zoo officials, Prithvi’s condition remains critical, and a team of experienced veterinarians and wildlife specialists is working round-the-clock to stabilise him. The medical team is giving treatment and supportive care in line with expert recommendations, while closely observing his response to medication and therapy. Authorities have assured that all necessary measures are being taken to support the tiger’s recovery. The team is continuing intensive monitoring and providing supportive treatment aimed at improving his strength and mobility.Prithvi has been one of the well-known residents of the Mysuru zoo, which is home to several endangered and rare wildlife species.
