Patna: State’s urban local bodies have collected more than Rs908 crore revenue, including holding tax, during the last fiscal (2025-26).Deputy CM and minister for urban development and housing department, Vijay Kumar Sinha, highlighted this achievement, stating that it reflects the strengthened financial position and better management of the state’s urban administration. The minister said this collection was achieved from 19 municipal corporations, 89 municipal councils and 156 nagar panchayats. “Notably, the holding tax recovery alone crossed Rs565 crore against a target of Rs533 crore, registering an impressive 106% of the target. In comparison, during the previous financial year (2024-25), the total revenue collection, including holding tax, stood at Rs432 crore, while only Rs290 crore was collected as holding tax. The increased revenue will play a vital role in developing urban infrastructure, improving sanitation, ensuring reliable water supply, constructing better roads and expanding other essential civic services for the people, he added. He also appreciated the dedication of all elected representatives and employees of the urban local bodies (ULBs).
