CMS INDUSLAW has strengthened its Banking & Finance and Projects, Energy and Infrastructure (including Project Finance) practices with the addition of Abir Lal Dey as an Equity Partner and Satyadarshi Kunal as a Partner in its Mumbai office, along with their team.
Dey brings over two decades of experience in banking, project finance, structured finance, insolvency and debt restructuring. His sectoral expertise spans solar, wind, thermal energy, oil and gas, roads, ports, real estate and aviation, among others. He also actively advises startups and fintech companies. Prior to joining CMS INDUSLAW, he was associated with Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Luthra & Luthra and Link Legal.
He advises domestic and international lenders, financial institutions, developers and sponsors, with expertise in debt capital markets, deal structuring, risk allocation and negotiating a range of lending products.
Dey has also been involved in regulatory initiatives, including contributing to a SEBI working group. He serves as a guest faculty member at the IDBI Centre for Excellence in Banking and Finance (ICBF) and the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF), and actively contributes to academic and editorial legal forums.
Kunal has over 15 years of experience in banking and finance, fintech, project finance and debt restructuring. He has advised on a wide range of domestic and cross-border transactions across sectors including shipping, technology, manufacturing, power, renewable energy, roads and ports. Prior to this, he has been associated with Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Luthra & Luthra, IL&FS Financial Services and ICICI Bank.
He has experience in infrastructure and energy transactions, including project development, concession frameworks, financing structures, regulatory matters, and public-private partnership (PPP) frameworks.
