Prayagraj: Panic gripped Hathigahan and adjoining areas under the limits of Nawabganj police station on Sunday night after supporters of two opposite camps clashed and indulged in brick batting. The mob also torched a tractor and a bike.Four persons suffered injuries in the incident following which a heavy police force was deployed in the area to restore law and order. Trouble started after a man allegedly slapped a youth following an old dispute. This led to supporters of both groups exchanging heated arguments. Soon, the matter escalated into pitched battle with both parties pelting each other with stones. Upon being alerted, a team of Nawabganj police rushed to the spot and chased the mob. A senior cop said the incident was a fallout of an old rivalry and search was on for the agitators.
