Pune: The Bhosari MIDC police on Saturday arrested a 40-year-old man on the charge of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl of his neighbour. The incident happened on April 2 and 3 inside the accused’s house.On April 3, when the accused again called the girl inside his house, the girl’s mother and aunt, who were passing by the accused’s house, saw him touching her inappropriately and raised an alarm. They rescued the girl and approached the police.An officer from the Bhosari MIDC police said that the girl later told her mother that on April 2, the accused called her in his house. He sexually assaulted her. She did not tell anything to her parents as the accused threatened to kill her. The man has been arrested under Sections 64 (rape), 65 (rape of minor), 74 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. “Our investigations are on,” the officer said.
