Hyderabad: Two people were killed after a refrigerator exploded, reportedly due to an electrical short circuit, at a double-bedroom housing unit in Nirmal district on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Odisela Vijay (50), a daily-wage labourer. The identity of the other victim, a 40-year-old woman, is yet to be ascertained.The incident occurred in Mahalaxmiwada at Bangalpet, where a fire broke out in a C Block residence following what authorities believe was a power fluctuation that caused a refrigerator to explode. The fire rapidly spread through the house, leaving two occupants critically injured. Local residents rushed to the scene and alerted emergency services. The victims were immediately shifted by ambulance to the district headquarters hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries.Vijay had been living in the area for a few months. Police are verifying his hometown. The other woman who died in the incident is also suspected to have been a daily wage labourer working with Vijay, police said.Preliminary findings suggest that an electrical short circuit may have triggered the explosion; however, officials stated that a detailed forensic assessment is currently underway. The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.
