Hyderabad: A case has been registered against the son of the chairman of Bhuvanagiri municipality and his friends for allegedly killing a stray dog. Bhongir Town police registered an FIR under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, which criminalises “mischief by killing or maiming animal.““I received a petition stating that on March 27 at 10.20 am, in Upplamma Temple Lane, Bhongir town, the son of the municipal chairman of Bhuvanagiri municipality and his friends brutally killed a stray dog by beating it with heavy sticks. The incident was even recorded on CCTV. I request you to take necessary legal action in the matter,” said Adulapuram Goutham, the complainant and animal rights activist.Based on the complaint, K Laxmi Narsaiah, sub-inspector, registered a case, and the police are investigating the matter.
