Shillong: Sunrise services, prayers in churches and the gathering of the faithful for special masses across the state marked the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ amid traditional fervour in Meghalaya on Easter Sunday.Cathedrals, churches and chapels of all Christian denominations in the Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills of the state were specially illuminated in the evening, even as people greeted each other on Easter.Governor Chandrashekhar H Vijayashankar and CM Conrad K Sangma greeted the people on Easter.The governor urged citizens to reflect on values of compassion, kindness and unity. “As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are reminded of the boundless hope, love and renewal that Easter brings into our lives,” he said.“Easter stands as a profound testament to the power of hope, the strength of resilience, and the grace of new beginnings. As we celebrate the resurrection and its timeless message of selfless love, may your homes be graced with peace and your lives inspired by a sense of renewed purpose…. ,” CM Sangma conveyed to the people through his social media handle.
