Dumka: A youth riding a motorcycle was shot and injured by unidentified assailants in Godda district late on Saturday evening during a road robbery attempt.The incident occurred near Gopladih village on NH-133 under the town police station limits at around 9 pm when the assailants attempted to intercept him before firing at him.According to reports, three assailants who were also on another motorcycle opened fire at the victim. They allegedly fired four rounds, one of which hit the victim who was driving a bike, leaving him seriously injured after one bullet hit his leg.The injured was identified as Asgar Ansari (25), a resident of Amarpur under town police station limits. At the time of the incident, he was on way to Godda railway station to receive his father, along with a companion Furkan Ansari, a resident of neighbouring Prem Tola.The attackers approached the duo from behind and fired multiple shots before fleeing the scene.The officer in-charge (OC) of the Town Police Station, Dinesh Mahli, rushed to the spot with a team and immediately shifted the victim to Sadar Hospital.Police collected blank cartridges from the scene and began questioning locals.“Three unidentified criminals were involved in the firing. Preliminary investigation suggests a possible attempt of robbery,” the OC said.
