Jodhpur: A govt school teacher was suspended a day before the SI Recruitment Examination-2025 after a photograph of a sealed question paper box allegedly appeared on his WhatsApp status, officials said Saturday. The suspended teacher, Deepak Gehlot, is a computer instructor posted at a govt school in Bhopalgarh tehsil and currently on deputation at the Jodhpur district collectorate. He was part of the team handling examination materials. Officials said the image showed a sealed steel box containing question papers meant for the recruitment exam to be held on Sunday and Monday. Though the papers remained secure, authorities treated the act of photographing and sharing the box as a serious breach of protocol. Additional District Magistrate Anjum Tahir Shama said the question papers were sealed in steel boxes and deposited in the treasury Friday evening under a seven-layer security arrangement. “While the papers remained secure, the act of photographing and sharing the box constituted a serious breach of protocol,” Shama said. The district administration immediately informed the education department after the incident came to light, and disciplinary action was taken against Gehlot. A total of 111 examination centres have been set up in Jodhpur city for the SI Recruitment Examination-2025. The exam, being conducted to fill 1,015 posts, will be held in two shifts. Across Rajasthan, around 7.7 lakh candidates are expected to appear at 1,174 centres in 41 districts. Authorities said strict legal action would be taken against anyone spreading rumours or circulating the image on social media. Vigilance has been intensified amid concerns over exam integrity following irregularities in the SI Recruitment Examination-2021, which was cancelled by the Rajasthan High Court’s division bench Saturday. Officials said elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure the examination is conducted fairly and securely this year.
