Prayagraj: The Prayagraj division of North Central Railways (NCR) marked a strong performance in the financial year 2025-26, recording a revenue of Rs 2,753 crore and achieving a freight loading of 7.945 million tonnes with a 6.9% growth.The division also registered an increase in freight earnings to Rs 843.63 crore, up by 3.9% from the previous record, while unloading reached 47.83 MT, reflecting a 7.39% rise, said divisional railway manager, Rajneesh Agrawal on Saturday.“A total of 1,46,832 trains, including 13,779 train-on-demand services, were operated during the year, while freight train speeds improved by 7.1% and 12.9%, including yard movement. The punctuality of coaching trains improved to 80.0%, up from 74.2%, with the best single-day performance recorded at 98.85%. During the Magh Mela period, 804 special trains and 7,490 regular trains were operated to manage rush,” he said.The DRM further said passenger amenities were significantly enhanced, with the addition of 35 catering stalls, 25 multipurpose stalls, 16 fruit and juice bars, and contracts for 17 water vending machines. About 7.40 crore passengers were transported during the year. On the safety front, nine level crossing gates were closed to improve traffic flow and safety while around 950 CCTV cameras were installed across stations. The Kavach 4.0 safety system was commissioned over 190 route km in the Prayagraj-Kanpur section. Infrastructure development remained a key focus, with 13 foot overbridges, seven road overbridges, and four road underbridges constructed. Eight Amrit Bharat stations have been completed, and new train services, stoppages and coach expansions were introduced to enhance connectivity. The DRM also said solar capacity was increased to 8.3 MWp, generating annual savings of Rs 4.16 crore and reducing carbon emissions significantly. Scrap sales worth Rs 69.51 crore were also recorded.
