Ahmedabad: The CM Gyan Sadhana Merit Scholarship Examination was conducted across Gujarat on Saturday, witnessing 81.4% participation from students statewide. A total of 6.3 lakh students registered for the exam, out of which 5.1 lakh appeared, while around 1.2 lakh remained absent. The examination, organized by the State Examination Board, aims to support meritorious students from economically weaker sections by providing scholarships for studies from Classes 9 to 12. Every year, around 25,000 students are selected based on merit and awarded financial assistance under this scheme.For the 2026-27 academic year, 6,28,407 students applied online. The exam was conducted from 11am to 1.30pm at district headquarters across Gujarat. It was held in both Gujarati and English mediums at 2,702 CCTV-equipped centres, covering over 24,410 blocks.In Ahmedabad city, 28,819 students registered, of which 25,897 appeared. In contrast, Ahmedabad rural recorded a lower attendance of 75.5%, with 14,360 students present out of 19,016 registered candidates.Navsari district reported the highest attendance at 92.2%, while Porbandar recorded the lowest at 71.3%.
