New Delhi: A 21-year-old man was allegedly shot at outside a club during a heated altercation in east Delhi’s Preet Vihar in the early hours of Saturday.The injured man, identified as Sameer, a resident of Noor-e-Ilahi in Ghonda, sustained a gunshot injury and was rushed to the hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Doctors stated that his condition is stable, police said.According to police, the incident took place around 3am and a PCR call was received at Preet Vihar police station from Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where Sameer was admitted after the shooting. Acting on the information, police teams reached both the hospital and the spot to initiate an inquiry into the incident.During preliminary inquiry, police found that the caller, Naveem, 25, went to the club along with his friends earlier in the night. Sameer and another friend, Arham, joined them later. An altercation reportedly broke out between Arham and another group of men inside the club, which soon escalated into a heated argument. The situation intensified, following which the involved persons moved outside towards the service road near the club premises.“At that time, one unidentified person, who was already present outside the club along with his associates, allegedly fired a gunshot, which hit Sameer on his right leg below the knee, before fleeing the spot,” a senior police officer said. The injured man told police that he was not aware of the identity of the shooter.A case was registered. A crime team inspected the spot and collected evidence. CCTV footage from nearby areas is also being scanned to identify the accused. Local inquiries are underway, and police said multiple teams have been formed to trace and apprehend the accused persons involved in the incident.
