Hyderabad: Tensions escalated on Saturday as Congress workers vandalised the camp office of Gajwel MLA and former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, prompting a bandh call by the BRS on Monday.District Congress workers from Siddipet barged into the camp office, a govt property, and damaged glass panes near the office entrance. They also hurled flower pots. The group then entered the premises raising slogans against KCR and placed a photograph of chief minister A Revanth Reddy inside the office. The incident occurred even as police personnel attempted to bring the situation under control. According to police, the vandalism was a direct fallout of tensions that had been building since Thursday during a ward-level grama palana meeting. At the event, BRS supporters objected to the absence of KCR’s photograph, alleging a protocol violation, and tore down a flexi displaying Revanth’s image. The incident led to a case being registered against BRS workers. Saturday’s retaliation by Congress cadres marked an escalation in the rivarly between the two parties, and further heightened tensions in Gajwel.BRS leaders reacted strongly, condemning the attack and accusing the ruling party of encouraging such acts. In response, local BRS cadre called for a bandh in Gajwel constituency on Monday to protest the vandalism.Police officials said cases have been registered on charges of trespass and damage to public property.
