Pune: Manchar police have registered a case against a 35-year-old woman for allegedly attempting to kill her 14-year-old daughter by strangling her and later jumping into a well with her six-year-old son on Friday morning. The boy drowned, while the woman was rescued by locals and admitted to hospital.According to police, the incident occurred around 8.15am when residents spotted the woman jumping into the well with the child. Some locals immediately entered the well and pulled them out. They were rushed to hospital, where doctors declared the boy dead.Police said the woman’s husband, who reached the hospital, inquired about their daughter. The woman told him the girl was at their flat. When police reached the house, they found the teenager unconscious. “The woman had strangled her. She is currently undergoing treatment,” an officer said.Preliminary probe suggests the woman was facing domestic issues and was living separately with her children. “Frustrated over personal problems, she allegedly tried to kill her daughter. Believing the girl was dead, she took her son and jumped into the well,” the officer said.A case is being registered, with the husband as complainant, police added.
