Chandigarh: Alleging “external control over Punjab governance”, Punjab BJP working president Ashwani Sharma on Friday took exception to the name of AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on inauguration plaques of 109 new Aam Aadmi Clinics and two major irrigation projects launched on March 28.“The content displayed on the inaugural plaques of 109 new Aam Aadmi Clinics, along with the launch of two major irrigation projects in Fatehgarh Sahib on March 28, clearly establishes that the Punjab govt is being run by Delhi-based Aam Aadmi Party leaders rather than chief minister Bhagwant Mann and his cabinet colleagues,” Sharma mentioned in a written statement. He added, “Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal’s name was placed prominently at the top of both inauguration plaques, even above the name of chief minister Bhagwant Mann and his cabinet ministers. This is a clear indication of external control over Punjab’s governance.”“Under what authority is the name of a leader who holds no official position in the Punjab govt being inscribed on govt-funded public projects?” Sharma asked. He stated, “Such actions have raised serious concerns among the people of Punjab.”He further said, “It is unfortunate that CM Bhagwant Mann, the cabinet and elected MLAs have remained silent while practices like these undermine the dignity and autonomy of Punjab’s democratic institutions.”He termed this as “direct interference by Delhi-based leadership in the functioning of the state”.Calling it “a matter of Punjab’s pride and self-respect”, Sharma said, “Such actions create a sense of external imposition reminiscent of historical subjugation.”He demanded that “CM Mann, his cabinet ministers and all AAP MLAs provide a clear explanation and take immediate steps to uphold the constitutional sanctity and dignity of Punjab”.MSID:: 130001135 413 |
