Prayagraj: North Central Railway (NCR) zone has achieved a significant milestone in scrap disposal earning Rs 316.87 crore in the financial year 2025-2026. The revenue generated is 15.23% more than the set target of Rs 275 crore, as the railways managed to achieve Rs 41.87 crore more.Officials said that the performance also marks a 16.40% increase compared with the previous financial year 2024-25, highlighting consistent improvement in disposal efficiency. The achievement has been attributed to coordinated efforts across divisions and depots under the leadership of general manager Naresh Pal Singh and principal chief materials manager S P Dwivedi.A wide range of scrap materials, including condemned wagons, coaches, water tanks, steel structures and non-ferrous items were successfully disposed of during the period. Railway officials said that systematic monitoring and regular reviews at higher levels have played a key role in achieving the target and exceeding expectations.Apart from boosting revenue,the removal of obsolete materials has also helped improve safety and operational efficiency.NCR GM said that it remains committed to achieving its “zero scrap” target in the coming years and efforts will continue to set new benchmarks in scrap disposal .
