Kolkata: Tanay Shastri, an astrologer who had made headlines after a confrontation with actor and former TMC MP Mimi Chakraborty at an event he organised, joined BJP in Habra in Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district. Shastri was arrested on charges of harassing Chakraborty at an event where, she alleged, she was forced off stage.Shastri and two associates were charged with harassment, obstruction of duty and assault on police personnel. On Friday, Shastri joined BJP in presence of its Habra candidate Debdas Mondal. Shastri claimed he was falsely implicated. “Political power was used to have me arrested and humiliated without reason. I also personally admire PM Narendra Modi and wanted to be part of his work,” he said.
