Patna: Four armed robbers stormed a jewellery shop in the Bada Bazar area of Darbhanga town on Friday and decamped with jewellery worth around Rs 2 crore and cash amounting to nearly Rs 25 lakh, police said.According to police, the robbers looted jewellery and cash from the shop as well as from customers present there before fleeing the spot. CCTV footage shows the accused wearing masks. Police have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the culprits.An SIT has been formed under the leadership of the City SP to trace the robbers.Shop owner Manoj Thakur said, “I was dealing with a customer. Gold and silver items were scattered in the shop. Meanwhile, four criminals arrived with pistols in their hands. The criminals abused everyone. We did not resist at all. The criminals warned that anyone who shouts will be shot. They filled four bags with jewellery and cash and fled.”At the time of the robbery, two owners, two employees and two customers were present in the shop. The criminals also took cash belonging to the customers.“They took away the gold chains of mine, my son Monty’s, and the customers’ as well. All the criminals appeared to be between 25 and 30 years of age. The criminals threw our cellphones near the temple,” Thakur said.Shop employee Birju Kumar said four men entered the shop and one of them grabbed him and dragged him inside. He added that the robbers snatched the mobile phones of everyone present in the shop.Another employee said as soon as the robbers entered the shop, they slapped the owners and pointed pistols at their heads.“After that, they carried out the robbery. Along with this, they snatched chains, rings and cash from the customers who had come to the shop for shopping,” he said.Darbhanga SSP Jagannath Reddy said, “Four criminals carried out the robbery at the jewellery shop. Police are checking CCTV cameras. An SIT team has been formed to catch the criminals, which has started working under the leadership of the City SP. The criminals will be arrested soon.”
