Patna/Bettiah: Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan will arrive in Bihar on Saturday. During his visit, he will attend the third convocation of Mahatma Gandhi Central University (MGCU) in Motihari as the chief guest, a state govt official said here on Friday.The MGCU administration is making extensive preparations for the visit of the vice-president. The ceremony will be held at the Gandhi Auditorium in Motihari. The Vice-President will confer degrees on around 475 students graduating in the 2025 academic year.The third convocation follows previous ceremonies attended by President Droupadi Murmu during the first convocation and former vice-president Jagdeep Dhankhar during the second convocation held in Dec 2024, a university official said on Friday.Radhakrishnan will also visit the historic Bhitiharwa Gandhi Ashram in West Champaran.Ahead of his visit, the West Champaran district magistrate, superintendent of police and deputy inspector general of the Champaran range inspected the site on Friday and issued necessary instructions to officials to ensure proper arrangements.According to officials, the main purpose of the Bhitiharwa visit is to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and his association with the Champaran Satyagraha and to review ongoing activities and the museum at the ashram.West Champaran DM Taranjot Singh said, “All administrative preparations have been completed for the Vice President’s visit. The ashram premises have been extensively cleaned and painted. Three helipads have been constructed near the ashram. The playground and the road leading to the ashram have been renovated to ensure hassle-free movement during the visit. Security has been tightened in and around the premises with heavy deployment of police personnel. As a precautionary measure, entry of the general public has been restricted. The administration is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the high-profile visit passes smoothly.”
