Mumbai: A case was registered on March 30 after an 88-year-old man was hit by an unknown speeding two-wheeler in Vile Parle (W) on March 22 and died during treatment on March 26. Juhu police registered the case after the victim’s son, Rajesh Shah, a businessman, approached them with a complaint after completing the final rites of his father. The victim, Hasmukhbhai Shah, who lived at Swastik Society in Vile Parle (W), stepped out of his residence around 7 pm to buy medicines when he was hit by the speeding two-wheeler, police said. “The team is scanning through the CCTV footage of the route to track down the accused,” said police from the Juhu police station.In the complaint, Shah said, “I was at home when our building’s security guard called and said Hasmukh uncle has had an accident near Noble Medical in Vile Parle (W).” Shah said he told the guard to take his father to the hospital, and he along with his son Priyam, immediately rushed to Cooper Hospital.Shah said two to three unknown boys narrated him the entire mishap. “My father received treatment from March 22 to March 23. Later, he was shifted to a private hospital after his condition did not improve. He passed away on March 26.”A police officer said Shah complained that the rider fled without providing medical assistance or informing the police, and that Shah filed the complaint after completing the rituals.
