Lucknow: Holy Communion services on Maundy Thursday in city’s churches marked the day Jesus Christ shared the Last Supper with his disciples before his Crucifixion on Good Friday.At Assembly of Believers Church in Daliganj, the congregation was exhorted to practise gratitude and service. Delivering the message, Priest in charge Parag Wesley said, “People should remain thankful to God for what they have received and just as Jesus dedicated himself to the world, be willing to contribute towards the betterment of society.”At Assembly of Believers Church in Aliganj, the service began with hymns. Senior priest in charge Morris Kumar said, “Maundy Thursday marks beginning of Triduum, the three sacred days commemorating Christ’s passion, death and resurrection.At St Joseph’s Cathedral, Bishop Gerald John Mathias washed the feet of 12 members of the church during the Holy Eucharist. Spokesperson of Catholic Diocese of Lucknow, Donald D’Souza, said the ritual was to remember how Jesus washed feet of his 12 disciples, reflecting humility and love for his people At Epiphany Church in Lalbagh, a 25-member choir sang hymns including ‘Aye sur jo aluda’ and ‘Hayat ki roti de’. Priest in charge Frank Baksh delivered a sermon on baptism and importance of leading a true Christian life.
