Gandhinagar: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi will be in Gujarat, during which he will finalize the party’s candidates for the upcoming local body elections and also address a public meeting in the city.AIMIM state office-bearers said on Thursday that Owaisi will arrive in the city late on Friday. He will convene a meeting of state party office-bearers on Saturday, where the party’s candidates and campaign for the upcoming local body elections will be decided. “AIMIM will contest a total of 405 seats of municipal corporations, municipalities, district panchayats and taluka panchayats. Our party president will address a public rally on Saturday evening at J P Chowk in Khanpur to mark the beginning of the AIMIM’s campaign for the upcoming local body elections,” Abdul Ahad Khan, state committee member of AIMIM, said. In the 2021 local body elections, AIMIM won seven seats in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) election as well as 16 seats in municipalities of Modasa and Godhra.
