Gandhinagar: Gujarat deputy chief minister Harsh Sanghavi has described the state as the safest in the country for women, suggesting that the ground reality in other regions is starkly different. Speaking on Wednesday night at the inauguration of the Gandhinagar North Premier League 2026 (GNPL), organized by local MLA Rita Patel, Sanghavi emphasized the state’s unique culture of security.“Women in Gujarat feel safe even late at night, particularly during festivals like Navratri. They return home fearlessly after enjoying garba,” Sanghavi said. Addressing the upcoming elections for local self-governing bodies scheduled for April 26, the Deputy CM urged citizens to use their franchise as a rebuttal to critics. “It is time to vote and give answers to those who try to defame our state and question its safety,” he added. The SEC recently announced that polling for 15 municipal corporations and hundreds of panchayats will involve over 4.19 crore eligible voters.Stressing the importance of sports in nation-building, Sanghavi called the youth the “future of the state” and later stepped onto the pitch to play a few overs of cricket with GNPL participants. With PTI inputs
