Mangaluru: Urwa police of Mangaluru city arrested an absconding accused who was on the run for the past nine years in connection with several criminal cases registered in the city.The arrested accused is Suhan alias Sonu,33, from Ashok Nagar, Mangaluru. According to police, he was booked in a case registered at Urwa police station under Sections 399, 120(b) IPC in 2016 and another case filed in Urwa police station under Sections 120(b), 399, 402, 188 IPC in 2017. In Mangaluru North police station, a case was booked under Sections 143, 147, 148, 504, 506, 323, 324, read with 149 IPC in 2020. In one of the cases registered at Urwa police station, a long pending case (LPC) warrant was issued against him by a court. Acting on credible information, a police team led by ASI Lakshman of Urwa police station traced the accused in Mumbai, Maharashtra, and arrested him on March 29. The accused was subsequently brought to Mangaluru and produced before a court, which remanded him in judicial custody. An investigation is ongoing.
