Hyderabad: A five-year-old girl, who was sleeping beside her grandparents outside their house in Narayanpet, was found dead on a village check-dam bund in the early hours of Wednesday, raising suspicion.According to Narayanpet Rural police, the child had slept on a cot in the veranda with her grandmother on Tuesday night. Around 12.50 am, two villagers returning from agricultural work spotted her body on the nearby bund and alerted others.The girl’s grandfather rushed to the spot, identified her, and carried the body home. Villagers later informed the police.“The silver anklets she was wearing were missing, but her ear studs were intact. My daughter’s death occurred under suspicious circumstances, and her body was found away from the house at night,” the girl’s father stated in his complaint.Police said there were no visible external injuries on the body. The victim had been staying with her grandparents, while her parents were in Hyderabad for the treatment of their hearing-impaired two-year-old son.A case has been registered under Section 194 (suspicious death) of the BNSS. “We have sent the body for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death. A special team has been formed to investigate the case,” said Narayanpet inspector Shiva Shankar.
